Understanding Drand
The distributed randomness beacon that powers our verifiably fair draws.
What is Drand?
Drand (Distributed Randomness Beacon) is a service that generates publicly verifiable, unpredictable, and unbiased randomness. It is run by a consortium of independent organisations around the world, known as the League of Entropy.
Unlike traditional randomness generators that rely on a single server (which could be manipulated), Drand uses a distributed network. No single party controls the randomness, making it ideal for fair and transparent applications like ours.
How We Use It
We use the Quicknet network from Drand. Every draw on our platform is linked to a specific Drand round in the future (Current round + 3). This ensures that the outcome is determined by an external, immutable source of randomness that we cannot influence.
- Unpredictable: No one knows the result in advance.
- Unbiased: The result cannot be skewed towards any outcome.
- Verifiable: Anyone can check the result against the public Drand beacon.
